The invitation design process involves understanding the event and the theme since invitations really set the mood. Here are some samples for a waterfront, sunset wedding. The client chooses one of these or pulls elements from different invitations together. Click on images to enlarge. See more invitations here.

Happy Together--The designer's favorite has a pocket border with pull out invitation, note card, and bookmark or reminder tag.
Shells & Sun--The groom's favorite. The outer paper is a thick handmade paper by Ellie Pooh(tm) and the pocket is cut on the diagonal. At the high side of the diagonal a vellum band surrounds the card. In addition to the invitation card there is a note card envelope and a sunshine tag to use as a reminder/bookmark.
Sunset Palm-There's a lot about this invitation that speaks to the event. The flame metallic cardstock shimmers like a sunset, the topper is unique and the print palm tree is a signature shape. The groom loved the initials inside the sun.
The Flatter is Faster Series- These two designs would be the fastest to create and cheapest to mail. they have stamped and die cut images on the front printed area and a pocket insert on the back for a note card. There are little touches like distressed edges, gold thread borders, and embossing to polish these off.
In this case, the designer was the client along with my gorgeous groom, Sir Henry. We chose a combination of the first two designs with help from our friends and fabulous wedding plannerLeslie Garcia-Furey.
