Class Description: Create a mini-album out of coffee filters that will be a great tribute to the wonderful women in your life. We’ll use great papers by Fancy Pants™ in a pink and brown color palette to create this 10 page pocket album full of great embellishments and plenty of feeling. Please bring: 12” cutter, scissors, black/brown marker, adhesive. Instructions: Creating the book

1. Page Assembly and Decorating

Ø Dry emboss, ink, coffee filters (use 5)

Ø Edge wide end with Krylon marker as desired

Ø Stack pages and fold small end to create scoring for binding

2. Cutting and decorating covers

Ø Lay a coffee filter on card stock and outline with pencil making about 1/8 – 1/4 inch margin

Ø Cut 4 total covers, cutting two at the same time.

Ø Glue the two covers you cut together to build strength and be careful to glue lightly (or not at all) at the narrow end where binding will be

Ø Score and fold binding side to open easily

3. Pocket Inserts/page decor

Ø Cut squares, rectangles and stripes to fit 10 pages, overlapping is okay if you like a more artsy look (these will be the background for photos and journaling

Ø Cut or die cut 5 insert tags with toppers

Ø Cut or punch accents from daisy punch, butterfly dies, square or circle punch

Ø Sand and ink distress page elements

Ø Assemble insert tags with ribbons on top

Ø Assemble pages leaving room for binding fold

Hint: To roll this out without thinking as hard cut: 3 larger rectangles, 5 squares, 8 strips of varying widths, and two 3” squares. Then punch/die cut 3 butterflies, 5 circles, 5 daisies, and 5 small center circles.

4. Binding and Assembly

Ø Line up signatures (inside pages) and punch two holes about an inch apart. If you can’t punch through all at one time, then punch two at a time and mark next punch area with pencil

Ø Use same technique to mark and punch cover pages

Ø Secure eyelets on covers

Ø Thread ribbon through the back cover, pages, and then out the front.

Ø Tie and add more fibers if desired.

Bonus Ideas:

Make a HE is album using brown and blue accents

Use these mini albums as cards for special events

Stitch a binding with strong thread or dental floss.

Cut cover from specialty paper like leather finish or others.
