Poppin' Good Gifts to Make

Popcorn has a universal appeal--from the office worker who sneaks a snack to the family home-bound by snow and the couple who loves a good DVD at home, there's always a place for popcorn.

Use these ideas as a springboard to making your own popcorn gifts.

Shown here are two types of popcorn for giving. The unpopped kernels in a jar (which look great with a nice bottle of popping oil) and the microwave popcorn cover (which is cute as a "stand alone" gift or tucked in a basket with other treats like cocoa or chocolate with a DVD).
Microwave Popcorn Covers

1. Cut your cardstock (or double sided print paper) base. Sizes differ, you want to measure your paper to be 1" wider than your popcorn and double the length plus 1.5"
2. Score two fold lines in the center of your base .5" apart to accommodate the bulk of the popcorn package
3. Use die cuts, stamps, or other embellishments to decorate the front of the package as you would a card. Type or write a sentiment to go on the inside for a nice extra touch.
4. Supplies for the design shown include some of my favorite easy touches:
-WorldWin Card Stock, WorldWin Mirror Card stock, WorldWin white cardstock
-Fiskars cutting and embossing tool
-Spellbinders: Snowman and Kelly font
-Krylon silver paint pen for edging

Popcorn Kernels in a Jar

1. Fill a mason jar (this one was pint size) with good quality popcorn kernels. The tri-color ones would be attractive too.
2. Tie a wire-edged ribbon around the lid. I used ivory ribbon here.
3. Create a tag using a standard Avery tag as a base and tie to the jar with smaller width ribbon.
4. Supplies use in the tag:
--Avery standard tag base
-Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Paper
-WorldWin cardstock in ivory and brown
-Crafty Secrets(tm) stickers
-gold jingle bells
-gold wire
-gold eyelet
