Popcorn has a universal appeal--from the office worker who sneaks a snack to the family home-bound by snow and the couple who loves a good DVD at home, there's always a place for popcorn.
Use these ideas as a springboard to making your own popcorn gifts.
Shown in photos are two types of popcorn for giving. The unpopped kernels in a jar (which look great with a nice bottle of popping oil) and the microwave popcorn cover (which is cute as a "stand alone" gift or tucked in a basket with other treats like cocoa or chocolate with a DVD). The snow day snack and the Valentine popcorn are both based on microwave popcorn covers---The Valentine is done digitally.
Microwave Popcorn Covers
1. Cut your cardstock (or double sided print paper) base. Sizes differ, you want to measure your paper to be 1" wider than your popcorn and double the length plus 1.5"
2. Score two fold lines in the center of your base .5" apart to accommodate the bulk of the popcorn package
3. Use die cuts, stamps, or other embellishments to decorate the front of the package as you would a card. Type or write a sentiment to go on the inside for a nice extra touch.
4. Supplies for the design shown include some of my favorite easy touches:
-WorldWin Card Stock, WorldWin Mirror Card stock, WorldWin white cardstock
2. Design and print 8.5" by 11" paper for 3-D envelope. I used a tool called The Enveloper(tm) to make my envelopes. I created one on plain cardstock and then decorated a digital design to fit it.
3. For the popcorn cover I just wrapped the popcorn in pretty print paper and matted a cut-out of the cover design on top and tied with fibers
