I tried to follow the basic templates from Michelle's project, but became most frustrated with the cutting pattern. The sizes were hard to read and I ended up cutting things twice. So, I strayed from her ideas and decided the easiest way to approach this project was to cut strips of print paper and cardstock. I also used a few more shades of card stock from my wonderful Worldwin Papers Collection than Michelle showed for more variety. Since this type is project is always more fun with a friend, I enlisted my friend Jill G. to make these with me. We worked with different but coordinating print papers from Webster's Pages Pink Lemonade Collection.

Assembly Tips:
1. Choose your print paper, look for a small "busy" print for the most impact. If you have scraps of a coordinating print (from a left over layout or better yet a friend doing the same project).
2. Cut eight card bases 5.5" by 8.5" score and fold so they are ready for design
3. Cut four sets of Flowers (Flower Creations, S-4 S4-072)with Wizard cutting and embossing system --One medium, one light, and one dark solid plus one from a coordinating print.
4. Cut your strips:
From main print: 2" x 12"
                        2" X  11.5"
                        1.5" X 4.5"
                        1" X 3"
From Coordinatating or Main print: 1" X 4.25"
From Dark Cardstock: 2.5" x 12
          .75" X 5"
                                4" X 4"
                                3.5" X 3.5"
From Medium Cardstock: 1.5" X 3
                                      1.25" X 3"
From Light Cardstock: 2" X 4"
5. Additional Supplies: coordinating ribbons (satin and sheer), gold threads, eyelets, brads, sequins, dye inks, adhesive, 12" paper cutter with measuring capability

Once you have your strips, use the samples as guides to cut squares and shorter strips from each one. For the pinwheels, you'll cut from the corner 2/3 to center on each corner of square and fold. For the quilt you'll cut two print and two solid squares in half on the diagonal and arrange as pictured. The tag card uses the Spellbinders' standard tag die with the embossed area highlight in gold. You can make your own or use a purchased tag if you prefer.

For the message words consider word stamps, label makers, design runner, computer printed phrases, etc.

Michelle used an 8" X 8" page protector to make a little case for her card set to be given as a gift. I timed these out to be a 2-hour workshop and there wasn't time for the cute holder. I'm also admittedly greedy and want to use the cards for myself anyway....I may make a holder this week and if I do, I'll post the results for you.

Die Cut Stripper Cards--Overview

Inspiration: One of my yahoo groups meets periodically to stamp and create together. I've only attended one of their sessions in person, but I am always excited to hear what they are making and see photos online of the results.

This card set was inspired by a project sheet on Michaels.com called "Design Runner One Sheet Wonder Cards" by Michelle Pokomy. The Yahoo members incorporated extra stamps into their versions and I decided to use brand new CHA release papers with Spellbinders(tm) Die Cuts. Employ quilting techniques like strip cutting and using lights, darks, and mediums to compliment your cards.
