I love relaxing and enjoying card making. One of the great ways to do that is use a great tutorial like this one I found on Split Coast Stampers. They have great stuff but I am particularly fond of anything Beate Johns designs. I used the same concept to do some holiday cards with die cuts and buckles.
Here's my Easter version of the buckle card. The butterly die cut is Spellbindrs--of course. The stamp is Dream Impressions.
At left, proof that the first attempt isn't always the best--click on the samples to enlarge these.
Isn't this a fun look? I used the instructions and measurements on Split Coast Stampers by Bete Johns. Her lovely sample was done with turquoise and brown with light olive. Those colors are great, but not right for my friend Lynn's 50th birthday. I did not have the slit punch reccomended so I used a corner punch with the sides removed. On other samples I even used a circle punch.

Outside and inside views of a wreath buckle card--this turned out elegant with the new die from Spellbinders.
Here I combined die cuts from Timeless Heritage withthe new Holly and Lights die. Clocks make good "fodder" for lots of corny time sayings on cards that make me smile....
For these holiday day cards I used Worldwin cardtock from DoubleMates(green) and Textured (red) collections. The gorgeous print papers are from Pine Cone Press and Laura Kennedy's Painted Paper line. I got to meet her in January and hear a little about how she painted the orginals---very inspiring.
