I love seeing and sharing cards with other card artists. My friend "Miss Betty" from Virginia sends me the most wonderful cards. I cherish her and her creativity so much. After Christmas 2010 she sent me a Thank You note that was just adorable. The design was simple using coordinated print papers, stamped/die cut embellishments, and a wonderfully clever front fold. All you have to do is score the card base twice and you create a totally new look. Her card and my samples are shown below.

Technique Overview

1. Cut an 8.5" by 5.5" cardstock base as you normally would  from solid or double sided print paper. .

2. With card horizontally in front of you measure across 4 1/4" Score and fold there.

3. With card stock in the same position measure 2/18" from the first fold and score and fold again.

The base is now ready to decorate.

Ideas for decorating the base

--Elegant and Simple
Cut two strips of coordinating print paper 2.1/8" by 5 1/2 inches and adhere to card base as in first sample in gallery

Cut a third strip the same size from white paper to glue inside for note or sentiment

Punch or die cut shapes to embellish front sides

--Bold and Bright
Use the same print paper cuts and glue them as above on a solid color base.

Die cut a large front element from chipboard or decorate a standard size ATC or tag. Glue this embellishment on so that it overlaps the 2 1/8" score line

--Double Sided Paper
--Use double sided print card stock as a base to cut your time in half

-Coordinate a multi-piece punch or die cut on a matted and overlapping design on the front.

Miss Betty's thank you card--the orginal inspiration. She used a cardstock base with print papers and die cut embellishmentsMy first use of the fold involved a card stock base, die cut (from a tissue box) palm tree and I created my own print papers with ink and stamps on white paperA sample from the flash card series using double sided paper as the base for the 2-fold cardFront of Valentine made for the upcycle card series with recycled elements.Inside of Valentine which shows a good view of how the card opens.
