Party Decor
When I was growing up my mother would set out new decorations for each season. I loved it when she would change things to bring the festival of life into our home. I am often the initiator of decorating contests at home and at work for doors, yards, desktops, and cubicles. It's refreshing and creative. Here's some of the decorations I prepared for our recent trailer warming and beyond.
Put silk flowers (on sale at the craft store) in a glass vase with marbles and sheer ribbon. Use stamps and stickers to create a tag to hang on the arrangement.(Left and above)
Dress up your current greenery with a beaded plant poke surrounded by photo clips to hold cards (Stampin' UP Cards by Lynn Barwald and Brenda Banas).
Make tabletop signs from stamps, cardstock, and die cuts to create colorful and festive greetings. Fashion a guest book from a blank spiral bound scrapbook (shown left) and decorate the pages with ink and images before using.
With all the allergies around today make little cards identifying your food and note any with nuts, seafood, excessive sugar, and dairy..
Party Decoration Tips:
--Just because they're paper, doesn't mean they can't be clever and creative.
--Work with what you have on hand by sprucing up a silk flower arrangement, filling empty photo frames and holders with theme related designs, hang party lights over a table or mantle.
--Tie fabric or ribbons everywhere: chair backs, door knobs, sculpture, baskets, hanging art, remote controls, etc
--Use candles, potpourri, great cooking smells, or air freshener to make sure your guests get a sensory experience.
--Pick a color scheme and use it as a guide for everything.
-- Think of your decorations as card fronts when making framed signs, door signs, plant pokes, and table toppers. Transfer your style to party decorations quickly and easily.
Since we pulled this entire party inside at the last minute I didn't get to spread out these decorations and many more along the same lines. I doubt if the attendees even saw many of them. However, the great thing about this type of decoration is that you don't have to pull them all down when it's over. We've been enjoying moving them around and looking at them all month. I love pulling in the driveway and seeing bows on all the lawn statues!
