Christmas is permission to be tacky
At least it is in our neighborhood. We have none of those pesky neighborhood associations and we have very little cash, but we've got love! And, we enjoyed decorating our home even more this year when we considered that last year we didn't have a home to decorate.
This is the orginal box from my tree. It is the tree my Grandmother and Grandfather used in their home in the sixties and seventies. They paid $5.99 for it, which was a HUGE price back then.
This is one of the 6 crocheted angels Grandma made for me in the eighties at my request. She also crocheted stars and my Mom has dozens of those on her tree.
Left-Pinkie the beanie baby flamingo is nestled against the trunk of the tree.
Right-This Santa survived hurricane Hugo in Charleston, SC and was a gift from survivors Hope and Jack.
Every tacky tree should have at least one Elvis and one Marilyn Monroe ornament. My mother made me a dress just like the one she wore here from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. I love that dress.
Santa Daisy is ready to go spread cheer and goodwill and doggie kisses.
Kayla gets a Christmas kiss for learning to dress herself. Those socks are big hit in the neighborhood!
